Tragedy struck Pakhunjur, Chhattisgarh, as a family of five attempted suicide by consuming poison. The incident took place in PV 70 Shantinagar village, part of the Chandanpur Gram Panchayat under the Partapur police station jurisdiction. The attempt resulted in the deaths of three young children, who did not survive long enough to receive medical treatment. Their parents are currently hospitalized in critical condition at the Civil Hospital Pakhunjur. The children who died were Varsha Bairagi (11 years old), Dipti Bairagi (7 years old), and Devraj Bairagi (5 years old). The reasons behind the family’s actions are currently being investigated by the police, who are present at the scene. The village and surrounding areas are in mourning. Local authorities are also on-site. Preliminary information from villagers suggests the family may have been dealing with financial struggles and family disputes, but this information is unconfirmed. The community is deeply saddened by the loss of the three children.
