Rs 1 Crore Ransom Case: How Durg Police Used a JCB to Catch Kidnappers

A high-stakes kidnapping drama in Chhattisgarh ended with a dramatic police operation and the arrest of five people. The case involved the abduction of a minor boy who was targeted for a Rs 1 crore ransom. The mastermind, identified as the victim’s own relative, had deep knowledge of the family’s wealth and used a honeytrap to facilitate the crime. Following the kidnapping on April 12, the Durg Cyber Cell monitored communication channels. The breakthrough came when ransom calls were traced to the Dhamtari district. Coordinating with local authorities, the Durg police initiated a chase. Realizing the suspects were traveling by road, they deployed heavy machinery, including a JCB, to create an impassable barrier on the highway. This move left the kidnappers with no choice but to surrender. The minor has been reunited with his family, and the police are investigating if this gang has been involved in similar activities previously.
