Under the scheme, the installed solar rooftop plants are connected to the electricity grid through net metering. Consumers can generate more electricity than they need and supply it to the grid, resulting in zero electricity bills and additional income. Under this scheme, a 1-kilowatt solar plant installation qualifies for a subsidy of 30 thousand rupees from the central government and 15 thousand rupees from the state government, totaling 45 thousand rupees. For a 2-kilowatt plant, the subsidy is 60 thousand from the center and 30 thousand from the state. Installing a 3-kilowatt solar panel earns a subsidy of 78 thousand rupees from the central government and 30 thousand rupees from the state, totaling 1 lakh 8 thousand rupees. Consumers can register for the Pradhan Mantri Suryaghar Muft Bijli Yojana on the website or via the PM Suryaghar mobile app.
