The monsoon season is currently active across India, bringing heavy rainfall and causing significant damage in the mountainous areas. Uttarakhand is severely impacted by cloudbursts, and Himachal Pradesh is under alert. Flooding is impacting several regions in Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. Heavy rainfall is also affecting states like Bihar, Jharkhand, Bengal, and Odisha.
In contrast, Delhi has been dry for the past 24 hours, experiencing high humidity and heat. Although the Meteorological Department predicted rain, the city has not received any rainfall in the last three days. The monsoon trough, which usually brings rain, has shifted north of Delhi.
As a result, rainfall is concentrated in the mountains, reducing the chance of rain in Delhi. However, the Meteorological Department expects light rain or drizzle for Delhi today. The capital may experience continuous rain until the 12th. Light to moderate rainfall is anticipated in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Kerala, and Karnataka in the next 24 hours.
The weather forecast indicates cloud cover and rain from Bengal to Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Heavy rainfall is likely in specific areas within these states. Light to moderate rain, alongside instances of heavy rainfall, is also expected in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. Light to moderate rainfall may occur in parts of Maharashtra, West Bengal, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, Marathwada, Konkan, Goa, Rayalaseema, Lakshadweep, and Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Light rainfall is expected in central India and Rajasthan over the next 6-7 days. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected to persist in the northeast and surrounding eastern parts of India for the next 7 days. Extremely heavy rainfall is possible in certain areas of Arunachal Pradesh tomorrow, August 8th.
