A troubling cyber fraud incident has surfaced in Raipur, where an insurance advisor was targeted through a deceptive WhatsApp message. Devendra Singh Rism, 57, received a wedding invitation via WhatsApp. When Rism opened the e-card, his phone was immediately compromised. The phone started acting erratically, and money was withdrawn from his bank account in installments. Rism acted swiftly, attempting to shut down the activity as soon as possible. He contacted his bank to block his account and then reported the incident to the police. The authorities have initiated an investigation. The total amount stolen from Rism’s account was approximately Rs 4.80 lakh. This scam serves as a reminder of the importance of digital security and the dangers of clicking on unknown links and attachments.
