Chief Minister Hemant Soren is personally involved in overseeing the arrangements for the traditional Shraadh ceremony of his father, the late Dishom Guru Shibu Soren, former Chief Minister of Jharkhand and a Rajya Sabha MP. Soren himself took an e-rickshaw to tour the village and evaluate the preparations.
Since his father’s passing, Hemant Soren has been staying in his ancestral village of Nemra for the past ten days, observing the traditional Shraadh rituals. During his inspection, he visited each pandal, meticulously reviewing the arrangements. He instructed officials to ensure adequate security, cleanliness, drinking water, parking, seating, and toilet facilities for all attendees. He also emphasized the importance of well-organized traffic management.
The village is actively engaged in preparations, with decorations and organization taking place throughout, from the streets to the puja sites. Family, relatives, and villagers are assisting in accordance with traditional practices and local customs. To assist with transportation, over 300 e-rickshaws will be available to transport people from the parking areas to the event. Additionally, three large parking areas have been constructed.
Each parking area will have bio-toilet facilities. Shaded areas and pagodas will be available for pedestrians. The food arrangements will include three large pandals, each capable of accommodating a large number of people. Local cuisine and traditional Prasad will be served. Numerous volunteers and cooks will be present to ensure cleanliness and smooth service.
A police control room has been established to manage security and traffic. The security detail will include 10 IPS officers, 60 DSPs, 65 inspectors, and approximately 2500 police personnel. The district administration will remain vigilant. Police, administration, and volunteer teams will work around the clock to manage traffic, provide emergency services, and control crowds.
A special exhibition and memorial gallery will highlight Guruji’s life, political achievements, contributions to the tribal community, and public service. Rare photographs, historical documents, and achievements from his career will be on display.
Shibu Soren passed away on August 4 at a hospital in Delhi. Hemant Soren performed the final rites in Nemra on August 5. The Shraadh feast is scheduled for August 16, with an expected attendance of around 2 lakh people. Helipads have been arranged for VVIP guests, and security will be managed by IPS officers, DSPs, inspectors, and constables, along with a large contingent of additional personnel.
