Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel welcomed Ireland’s envoy to India, Kevin Kelly, for a pivotal courtesy meeting in Gandhinagar on his maiden state visit. The dialogue illuminated historical parallels between India and Ireland, paving the way for enhanced partnerships.
Kelly underscored the cultural affluence of Gujarat and Ireland, both cherishing their traditions. A notable highlight was the Indian Embassy’s Dublin event series two years back, dedicated to Gujarat’s cultural splendor, which resonated deeply with Irish audiences.
Key discussion points included mutual interests in aircraft leasing, semiconductor development, financial services, and educational exchanges. Patel cordially invited an Irish delegation to the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit, championed by PM Narendra Modi, and received a positive response from Kelly.
Accompanying officials comprised Mamta Verma, Additional Chief Secretary (Industries), Dr. Vikrant Pandey, Additional Principal Secretary to CM, and P. Swaroop, Industries Commissioner.
Echoing recent fiscal positivity, CM Patel lauded the Union Budget 2026-27 for its transformative impact on Gujarat. He described it as a cornerstone for Viksit Bharat under PM Modi’s stewardship, targeting economic acceleration, superior infrastructure, and broad-based development.
The budget’s triad of priorities—sustainable economics, inclusive participation through skill-building, and equitable sectoral advancement—features Rs 10,000 crore for bio-pharma initiatives. Gujarat’s pharmaceutical leadership ensures substantial benefits, while six textile schemes will propel the sector forward, fostering innovation and jobs.
