Senior Congress leader Sachin Pilot used a New Delhi press briefing to rail against what he sees as the government’s dual failures: brutal crackdowns on youth protests and a foreign policy skewed toward personal branding.
Addressing Uday Bhanu Chib’s bail in the AI Summit agitation case, Pilot defended the right to protest as bedrock of democracy. He revealed the government’s hysteria, slapping heavy sections on Youth Congress members—including absent ones like Chib. ‘A few lads in protest T-shirts challenging internal security? That’s absurd,’ Pilot shot back, labeling it a desperate bid to muzzle opposition.
Such incidents, he said, echo a troubling trend where big events see routine protests, but this administration opts for jails over dialogue out of spite. Pilot pledged full backing to his party’s young warriors facing these ordeals.
He also hailed Rajasthan NSUI head Vinod Jakhar’s elevation to national president, attending his swearing-in and offering heartfelt congratulations for his dedicated journey.
Pilot’s sharpest barbs targeted PM Modi’s Israel itinerary. ‘The timing undermines our two-nation theory support,’ he argued. Over 11 years, foreign policy has morphed into a personality cult, compromising India’s stance for leader’s image and private bonds. ‘National interest trumps all—parties, leaders, everything. This repeated compromise must stop,’ Pilot demanded.
