The Rajasthan High Court has annulled the 2021 Sub-Inspector (SI) recruitment exam, following a probe into a large-scale cheating scandal. The ruling responds to ongoing protests by candidates who alleged corruption within the recruitment process. Earlier, the court had stopped the passing-out parade and the appointment of new sub-inspectors. The recruitment aimed to fill 859 posts. The Special Operations Group (SOG) of Rajasthan discovered evidence of cheating, including the use of proxy candidates. More than 150 individuals were arrested in relation to the case. The court’s decision was based on evidence that the exam paper was leaked through channels like WhatsApp and social media, and that sophisticated cheating methods were employed. The court found it improper to continue with the recruitment. The verdict was hailed as historic by legal professionals. The decision, which came after four years, was welcomed as a victory for justice.
