A 36-hour curfew and a ban on internet services have been imposed in Cuttack, Odisha, in response to escalating violence. The measures were enacted after several clashes, including those during a Durga idol immersion procession. Recent reports indicate a violent confrontation between police and an organization whose bike rally was denied permission, leading to injuries to eight officers. The initial unrest began late Friday night in the Dargha Bazaar area, where disagreements over loud music during the idol immersion sparked violence. The situation quickly worsened with the throwing of stones and bottles, causing injuries to several people, including the Cuttack Deputy Commissioner of Police.
