A joyous wedding trip turned into unimaginable horror for an Ahmedabad family in Gujarat’s Mehsana. Their return journey in an Eco car ended in disaster near Unava village when it struck a divider and somersaulted, killing five and injuring six severely.
Traveling from Rajasthan, the group was just miles from home in Ramol when the vehicle lost control. The impact was so severe that the car disintegrated, prompting immediate panic among passersby who sprang into action with rescue efforts.
The toll included Ramlal Kumawat and son Kailash, Komal Kumawat, a child, and a senior woman. Emergency teams airlifted the wounded to advanced medical facilities as Unava police launched inquiries into the crash dynamics.
This comes hot on the heels of Valsad’s gruesome highway accident at Kumbhghat bend on Kaprada-Nanaponda road. A family’s car plowed into an oncoming truck, killing all seven aboard—five men and two women from Amba Jungle village.
The sharp turn, repeatedly cited as accident-prone, witnessed instant deaths for five, with the remaining succumbing during treatment. Experts decry inadequate infrastructure fixes, advocating radar surveillance, rumble strips, and mandatory safety audits to curb such fatalities on Gujarat’s bustling corridors.
