Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has propelled Delhi towards modern mobility by approving three new Metro Phase V(A) corridors in a landmark cabinet decision. Spanning 16 km with 13 stations, the Rs 12,014.91 crore venture includes Delhi’s Rs 2,940.46 crore investment, eyeing 2028 completion.
Thanking PM Modi, Gupta tied the project to his visionary 7-C framework for inclusive, user-friendly, traffic-free, dynamic, pristine, and advanced public transport. She stressed its imperative for eco-preservation and pollution reduction, reaffirming dedication to a developed, green Delhi.
Key highlights: The prime 9.913 km corridor from RK Ashram to Indraprastha (9 stations, Rs 9,570.40 crore) traverses Central Vista, connecting Secretariat, India Gate, Baroda House, and more—benefiting lakhs daily while curbing emissions. Aerocity-IGI T-1 (2.26 km, Rs 1,419.64 crore) offers direct airport metro links. Tughlakabad-Kalindi Kunj (3.9 km, 3 stations, Rs 1,024.87 crore) boosts regional access.
Featuring mostly underground stations for minimal disruption, these routes promise interchange ease, linking homes, offices, and leisure spots. Reduced car usage will decongest roads, slash emissions, and enhance commuter experience.
This initiative cements Delhi Metro as the backbone of NCR’s transport evolution, delivering timely, secure rides and a breathable cityscape. Gupta’s vision integrates state efforts with national goals for unparalleled urban progress.
