In a move to better serve its passengers and reflect local identity, Delhi’s metro system has updated the names of three key stations. The announcement, made by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on November 16th, ushers in new designations for both operational and under-construction stations. Pitampura Metro Station, a long-standing name, will now be known as Madhuban Chowk Metro Station. This change is part of an initiative to provide clearer local markers for travelers. The upcoming station near VIPS College will be christened Haiderpur Metro Station, honoring the local village. This decision aligns with the wishes of Haiderpur residents who sought recognition for their community. Additionally, the northern Pitampura station in Q-Block will now be referred to as Uttari Pitampura-Prashant Vihar Metro Station. The event was made more significant by the arrival of the sacred Rezang La Shaheed Raj Kalash Yatra, a procession commemorating the heroes of the Rezang La battle. The Chief Minister paid homage to the martyrs, calling it a moment of immense pride for the village. The government also reaffirmed its commitment to regional development, citing ongoing projects like road improvements and an underpass designed to ease traffic and foster growth in the area.
