India’s defense innovation takes center stage at the 77th Republic Day 2026 celebrations. DRDO promises a riveting showcase at Kartavya Path and extended Bharat Parv, featuring pathbreaking systems bolstering national security.
Headlining is the LR-ASHM hypersonic missile, parading with its launcher to fulfill Indian Navy’s coastal defense imperatives. This indigenous marvel, armed with homebuilt avionics and sensors, targets static/dynamic assets with versatile payloads—the nation’s inaugural such missile.
It blasts off with two-stage solid motors to hypersonic velocities from Mach 10, employing a skip trajectory averaging Mach 5. Low-skimming agility fools radars, while indigenous terminal sensors ensure precision hits.
DRDO’s Red Fort float during Bharat Parv (Jan 26-31) focuses on ‘Naval Technologies for Combat Submarines,’ flaunting ICS, WG HWT, and AIP as submarine force multipliers.
ICS integrates subsystems for superior underwater awareness, aiding tactical weapon choices—a product of DRDO labs and vast industry collaboration.
WG HWT delivers knockout punches to ships and subs, fueling Navy’s blue-water ambitions with high-performance torpedoes.
Modular AIP uses phosphoric acid fuel cells and onboard H2 production for stealthy, extended dives, powering silently for current and future subs.
Additional parade demos include Arjun MBT, Nag NAMIS-II, ATAGS, BrahMos, Akash, BFSR, and ATGM. Through stakeholder partnerships, DRDO advances self-reliant defense, marking a milestone in Atmanirbhar Bharat.
