Eight killed, 14 injured in head-on collision between bus, mini truck in Uttar Pradesh

LAKHIMPUR KHERI: Eight individuals have been killed and 14 others have been injured in a head-on collision between a non-public bus and a mini truck on Wednesday, police mentioned.

Expressing grief over this accident, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officers to make sure correct therapy of the injured.

The bus was on its approach to Lucknow from Dhaurhara when it collided with a mini truck coming from the other way on Aira bridge on National Highway quantity 730, Deputy Superintendent of Police Pritam Pal Singh mentioned. The toll is more likely to rise, he mentioned.

On receiving the data, the police reached the spot and rescued the injured after chopping the bus with a fuel cutter, he mentioned.

The injured have been despatched to the district hospital and efforts are on to determine the deceased, the DSP mentioned.

According to a spokesperson of the state authorities in Lucknow, the Chief Minister has prolonged his condolences to the bereaved households whereas wishing peace to the departed souls.

Orders have been issued to hold out aid work on a battle footing, the spokesman added.
