The Uttarakhand government, led by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, is preparing to launch a new women’s policy as part of its ongoing commitment to women’s empowerment. The policy, which is designed to be comprehensive, is expected to be presented to the cabinet in the near future. The government intends to create a structured plan for the economic and social advancement of women through this policy. The Dhami government has previously introduced important measures, such as 30% reservation for women in government jobs and implementing women’s reservation in cooperative societies. These measures are aimed at promoting women’s leadership. Further, the government has successfully implemented initiatives like Mahila Saarthi Yojana, Ekal Mahila Swarozgar Yojana, and Lakhpati Didi to provide women with self-employment opportunities.
