FIR towards ITLF spokesman for ‘selling enmity’ in Manipur

IMPHAL: The Manipur Police has registered a case towards Indigenous Tribal Leaders’ Forum (ITLF) spokesperson Ginza Vualzong for allegedly selling enmity between completely different teams and creating public mischief, a cost denied by the organisation.
Registering a ‘zero FIR’ based mostly on a grievance by a dealer, the Manipur Police filed the case within the Imphal sub-division below sections of the Indian Penal Code coping with selling enmity on grounds of faith, race and so forth, defamation, spreading rumours and creating ill-will between two communities.
The FIR will later be transferred to the Khangshong police station below the Tamenglong district for investigation.
The grievance was filed by merchants, who feared that their items could be looted on the Khangshong railway station after Vualzong made a press release that almost all neighborhood was smuggling arms and ammunition into the valley by trains.
Khangshong is the final station within the state which is related to the railway hyperlink.
Denying the fees as baseless, Vualzong stated that submitting of the FIR is one more means by the state authorities to “suppress the voice of tribals”.
“Before this, our official Twitter account was withheld by the social networking site following a direction from the Manipur Police, and now this Zero FIR,” he stated.
The ITLF spokesperson termed the registering of the case as “trivial” and added that the complete case is about sloganeering.
“I wonder why the state authorities turn a deaf ear when slogans like wiping out the entire tribal community are raised at rallies of the majority community,” he stated.
