Five who ran weblog that put out ‘hit-lists’ held: J&Ok cops
The Jammu and Kashmir Police Saturday stated it has arrested 5 individuals operating a weblog that was behind a “smear campaign” in opposition to outstanding journalist Shujaat Bukhari and different individuals earlier than their killing.
The police stated that the weblog, kashmirfight.wordpress.com, was being “run by a white collar terrorist syndicate” whose activity was to arrange a “hit-list” of presidency officers, journalists, social activists, attorneys, and political functionaries. The police had claimed previously that it was being run from Pakistan.
“In a JK-wide operation, houses and properties at multiple locations… belonging to five persons were searched…,” the police stated, including that they seized a number of cell telephones, digital storage units and computing platforms.
The arrested individuals have been recognized as Nazish Yasrab Rehmani and Tabish Akbar Rehmani from Sanatnagar, Sofi Mohammad Akbar from Rajbagh, Peerzada Raqif Makhdoomi from Batpora Hazratbal and Javed Khalid from Poonch.
With the arrests, the police stated, “it is expected that the ultimate plans behind the murder of Journalist Shujaat Bukhari, Advocate Babar Qadri and businessman Satpal Nischal would come to the fore.”
