Madhya Pradesh police have arrested a woman and her male friend following an investigation into the suicide of a family of four in Khurai. The incident, which occurred on the night of July 25-26, involved the deaths of a 45-year-old man, his mother, and his two teenage children, who reportedly consumed a poisonous substance. The man’s mother and son died at the scene, while the man and his daughter passed away during treatment. The investigation unveiled that the man’s wife was allegedly involved in an extramarital affair with a childhood friend, a relationship that the man’s mother strongly opposed. The woman, instead of ending the relationship, is alleged to have threatened the family with false accusations of dowry harassment. Compounding the situation, the couple’s daughter had reportedly witnessed her mother in compromising situations. The police investigation concluded that the illicit relationship was the key factor leading to the suicides, resulting in the arrest and jailing of both the woman and her lover. The probe into the case is still underway.
