Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Narwane has said that the next step in the process of reforms in the defense sector is the formation of Integrated Theater Commands, so that the war skills and capabilities of the three armies can be better coordinated in times of war and peace.

General Narwane visited the Defense Management College and Bison Division in Secunderabad today and said this during a dialogue with the officials doing various courses there. The Army Chief referred to issues such as integration of the three armies, war-related topics and modernization, besides presenting his views on the development and use of the Army’s capability in terms of meeting the current security scenario and national interests. He said that the decision to appoint the Chief of Defense Staff and the formation of the Department of Military Affairs is historic, which has fulfilled the long-standing demand.

He said that the next step in the process of reforms in the defense sector is the formation of integrated theater commands so that the coordination of war and other capabilities of the three armies can be coordinated in war and peacetime. At the same time, he said that this process is thoughtful and will be based on extensive discussion and it will take time. Expressing an optimistic view on the integration of forces, he said that this is inevitable as it will increase synergy and more resources can be used.

The army chief said that it is necessary that all should work with a sense of solidarity and trust, while considering national security as the highest. Appreciating the works of the Defense Management College, he also released a coffee table book on the occasion. In the Bison division, he appreciated the operational preparedness of the Southern Command and asked all officers and jawans to continue training with hard work and enthusiasm so that future operational challenges can be dealt with firmly. He commended the military personnel for the measures taken during the Corona epidemic and for their contribution to flood relief operations.
