Union Minister Piyush Goyal has lauded Uttar Pradesh’s progress under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, characterizing the state as a model of development with ‘world-class infrastructure’ and ‘impeccable law and order.’ Goyal emphasized that these improvements have made UP a highly conducive region for doing business, reflecting the aspirations of its populace for a better future. This assessment is supported by the Annual Survey of Industries (ASI) 2023-24 report, which places Uttar Pradesh firmly among India’s leading industrial states. The report indicates that UP ranks in the top five states for industrial employment, factory count, production, and Gross Value Added (GVA). Over the last decade, the state has been a significant job creator in the industrial sector, generating more than 5.7 million positions. Uttar Pradesh’s industrial footprint is expanding, now accounting for 8% of national industrial employment and holding the fourth position in the country for the number of factories. This expansion is attributed to strategic investments in industrial infrastructure and a business-centric policy environment. The state’s production output and GVA have experienced substantial growth, with UP contributing significantly to the nation’s economic output, particularly in key industries like chemicals, automobiles, and metals.
