A heated rooftop dispute in Greater Noia’s Jahangirpur turned violent Wednesday, as trader Puneet Agarwal and his family faced a brutal thrashing from neighbors over stone-throwing. What began as a protest against stray rocks ended in injuries and police action against three men.
Agarwal told police that locals Puneet alias Gutki, Chetan, and Kalicharan were repeatedly chucking stones onto his roof. His verbal objection was met with foul language and a sudden assault with sticks, injuring him and several kin. The neighborhood plunged into disorder, with bystanders fearing for safety until they stepped in to halt the frenzy.
Thankfully, surveillance cameras recorded the attack, bolstering the case against the assailants. The family wasted no time filing charges at Jewar station, prompting swift police response.
‘We’ve booked the accused under appropriate laws and are pursuing leads for their arrest,’ confirmed SHO Sanjay Singh. Investigators are piecing together timelines, including potential motives beyond the immediate trigger.
This episode serves as a stark reminder of how trivial disagreements can erupt into serious crimes in residential pockets. Experts advocate for community policing initiatives to foster harmony. As the injured recover, Greater Noida authorities vow zero tolerance for such lawlessness, promising quick resolution.
