Three youngsters and two adults have drowned after their boat capsized in a lake in Gujarat’s Navsari district when a lot of vacationers tried to get on to the vessel whereas some others have been disembarking, police mentioned on Monday.
Nearly 15 others have been injured within the melee attributable to vacationers getting out and in of the boat in a rush on Sunday night, an official from Chikhli police station mentioned.
The incident befell in a lake at Soldhara Eco Point, a vacationer spot in Chikhli taluka of Navsari, he mentioned.
“Due to the rush of tourists, the boat capsized when people tried to get on to it at the same time when others were disembarking,” he mentioned.
Later, hearth division personnel launched a rescue operation and fished out 5 our bodies until late night time, he mentioned.
The deceased included a 30-year-old lady, her two youngsters aged 1.5 and 10 years, one other six-year-old little one and a 28-year-old man, he mentioned.
The injured individuals have been taken to a hospital for therapy, the official mentioned.
A probe into the incident was underway, he added.
