Rajesh Khimji Sakaria, 41, from Rajkot, Gujarat, assaulted Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta during a public hearing at her residence on Wednesday. The CM sustained injuries and is under medical treatment. According to Sakaria’s mother, the attack was triggered by her son’s passion for dogs and his strong disagreement with the ongoing debate about stray dogs in Delhi, specifically the policy of sending them to shelter homes. She stated that Sakaria was angered by a Supreme Court order regarding stray dogs. The incident took place around 8 am, during the public hearing, as Sakaria approached the CM. He was immediately apprehended by security and is now in custody. Police are investigating and coordinating with authorities in Gujarat to verify his background. The CM received medical attention following the attack. The Delhi BJP president mentioned that while shaken, the CM was safe.
