AHMEDABAD: Unhappy with the rising stature of Dalit activist Jignesh Mevani inside the Congress, the celebration’s senior SC chief and former Rajya Sabha member Raju Parmar has introduced that he’s quitting the celebration together with former house minister and three-term MLA Naresh Raval. Both are more likely to be part of the BJP.

The prominence being accorded to Mevani by the excessive command, particularly Rahul Gandhi, has unsettled fairly a couple of leaders within the Gujarat Congress. Parmar claimed that Mevani was being promoted even though he hadn’t completed a lot for the celebration to date.

Another senior SC chief of the Congress instructed this newspaper that Mevani was more likely to be propped up because the celebration’s Dalit face nationally. The chief stated that Mevani’s affiliation with the celebration had not yielded any constructive outcomes, but he was made working president, despite the fact that he didn’t have any “connection with the grassroots”.

Mevani was elected from Vadgam meeting constituency in 2017 as an ‘Independent’ can didate after the Congress vacated the seat for him.

“I and Raju Parmar have decided to resign from Congress. We will join BJP at a function on August 17. Many of our supporters will also join the BJP on that day,” Raval instructed reporters in Gandhinagar.

Parmar, a outstanding Dalit chief in Gujarat Congress, confirmed that he shall be leaving the celebration within the subsequent two days.

He will converse at a joint press convention about future plans, he added.

Raval stated he was leaving Congress as a result of a number of causes together with betrayal by colleagues.

“I had many bitter experiences in the party in the last ten years. The party now lacks teamwork. Leaders make decisions without any internal discussion and make others feel inferior. I also experienced betrayal,” he stated.

Congress’s help stage has gone down drastically in comparison with 2017 when it had received 77 seats within the 182-member Assembly, he claimed.

He has not demanded a ballot ticket from the BJP, Raval added.

Assembly polls in Gujarat are anticipated to be held in December.
