Heavy rains lash north Gujarat as a consequence of despair after Cyclone Biparjoy

AHMEDABAD: Heavy rains lashed a number of components of north Gujarat within the final 24 hours as a consequence of despair, a remnant of cyclonic storm Biparjoy, inflicting a flood-like state of affairs in lots of villages of Banaskantha district, officers stated on Monday.

Various components of Gujarat, together with the Saurashtra area, are more likely to obtain mild to reasonable rainfall within the subsequent two days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) stated in a launch.

Several villages within the Dhanera taluka of Banaskantha had been affected as a consequence of a flood-like state of affairs, an official from the district administration stated.

Twenty cows had been killed after getting swept away in water at Jadia village, the official stated, including that senior officers have reached Dhanera to assist native authorities in reduction work.

Cyclone Biparjoy made landfall close to Jakhau on the Kutch coast in Gujarat on Thursday night.

As per the IMD, the rainfall within the final 24 hours was the results of a despair, a remnant of cyclonic storm Biparjoy, over central components of south Rajasthan and the neighbouring area.

Banaskantha and Sabarkantha districts in north Gujarat acquired heavy to very heavy rainfall within the final 24 hours ending at 6 am on Monday.

Danta taluka of Banaskantha acquired 126 mm rain over the last 24 hours, adopted by 86 mm in Amirgadh (Banaskantha), 82 mm in Khedbrahma (Sabarkantha), 74 mm in Vijaynagar (Sabarkantha), 69 mm in Poshina (Sabarkantha) and 37 mm in Vadali taluka of Sabarkantha, the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC) stated.
