Himachal Pradesh is currently dealing with the aftermath of heavy monsoon rains, which have resulted in 78 fatalities between June 20 and early July. The state’s SDMA reported that 50 deaths were attributed to monsoon-related events like flash floods, landslides, and cloudbursts, with the remaining deaths occurring in road accidents. Mandi district is the most severely affected, with a large number of road closures and disruptions to water supply schemes. Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri highlighted that the state machinery is actively working to restore essential services. He also noted the unusual intensity of rainfall and the government’s priority to save lives and provide aid to those affected.
