Padma Shri Dr. Rajnikant, GI expert extraordinaire, voices strong support for PM Narendra Modi's Atmanirbhar Bharat and swadeshi campaign from Varanasi. In an IANS interview, he hailed it as an emotive, prescient blueprint for India's ascent as a global economic titan. Addressing energy import woes, Dr. Rajnikant noted, 'PM's appeal targets self-sufficiency, managing forex reserves, exporting Indian products globally, and employing youth and women— a comprehensive economic roadmap.' India's legacy in organic agriculture shines through with millets (jowar, bajra), ginger, lemon, and turmeric thriving in international trade at attractive rates. Low-input farming here allows farmers to drive self-reliance effortlessly. The spotlight fell on GI marvels and crafts: Banarasi pink enameling, Bhadohi carpets, Northeast bamboo wares—all commanding respect and revenue abroad. Handmade textiles and looms are equally sought after, boosting India's soft power economically. On PM's swadeshi advocacy, Dr. Rajnikant celebrated ODOP's rural transformation and 'One Family, One Entrepreneur' as pillars of independence. 'Abundant Indian products worldwide mean huge gains from domestic use and exports,' he said, envisioning a self-sustained, export-driven India.
