The stage is set for an awe-inspiring aerial extravaganza as the Indian Air Force launches Vayu Shakti 2026 on February 27 at Jaisalmer, perilously close to the Pakistan border. Drawing parallels to Operation Sindoor’s triumphs, this mega-exercise deploys assets from Western and South Western Air Commands, featuring more than 100 cutting-edge aircraft.
Expect Rafales slicing through the air with surgical precision, flanked by Sukhoi-30MKIs, Tejas light combat aircraft, MiG-29s, Jaguars, Mirage-2000s, and Hawk trainers. Absent will be the MiG-21s, phased out in a modernization push. Prachand attack helos will light up the skies with rockets, complemented by Chinook, MI-17, ALH, C-130J, and C-295 in dynamic maneuvers including night ops and rapid extractions.
IACCS will command the symphony of simulated combat, fusing radar intel from every corner to craft an unbreakable defense net. Army collaborations via Akash missiles and L-70 guns fortify positions against drones, missiles, and intruders, replicating Sindoor’s vigilant oversight.
Pakistan’s awareness via NOTAM hasn’t lowered guards; air defenses stand primed with anti-aircraft layers. International dignitaries and VVIPs, including 40 embassy officials, will observe, amplifying the event’s diplomatic weight.
This exercise cements the IAF’s role as a formidable guardian, blending technology, tactics, and tenacity to safeguard India’s skies amid geopolitical flux.
