The authorities at IIT-Kharagpur are investigating the death of a PhD student found in his hostel room on Saturday. This latest incident is the fifth case of suspected suicide reported at the institute this year. Harshkumar Pandey, 27, a PhD candidate in Mechanical Engineering and resident of Ranchi, was found deceased in his room at the BR Ambedkar Hall. Unable to reach him, his parents contacted the police who then discovered the body. The repeated incidents have raised questions about the mental health support available to students and the pressures contributing to these tragic events.
