India, Japan signal MoU to reinforce co-operation in 5G, Telecom Security, Submarine Optical Fiber Cable, Smart Cities

New Delhi: India and Japan on Friday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to step up cooperation within the discipline of Information and Communications Technologies.
The deal was inked by IT & Communications minister Ravi Shankar Prasad and his Japanese counterpart Takeda Ryota by way of video convention.
Department of Telecom and Ministry of Communications together with Japanese authorities will improve mutual cooperation within the discipline of 5G applied sciences, telecom safety, submarine optical fiber cable system to islands of India, spectrum administration, good cities, excessive altitude platform for broadband in unconnected areas, catastrophe administration and public security and so forth.
It has been agreed that aside from Ministry stage cooperation, Government of India group equivalent to C-DOT and ITI Limited together with trade companions from Japan may also a part of this cooperation.

Speaking on this event, IT minister Ravi Shankar Prasad highlighted the well timed execution of connecting Andaman & Nicobar Islands with submarine optical fiber cable as an important instance of cooperation between India and Japan.
