India-UK commerce deal on ‘snapping point’ over visa feedback: Report

LONDON: The India-UK free commerce settlement (FTA) is reportedly on the “verge of collapse” after the Indian authorities was angered by feedback made by UK Home Secretary Suella Braverman questioning motion over visa overstayers from the nation, a UK media report claimed on Wednesday.

The Times’ newspaper quoted authorities sources to say that ministers in New Delhi had been “shocked and disappointed “by the “disrespectful” remarks made by Braverman, who stated she had issues of an “open borders” supply to India as a part of an FTA.

The chance of assembly the Diwali deadline for the pact, set by former Prime Minister Boris Johnson, is now believed to be diminishing.
