External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar delivered a compelling vision for India’s future at the inaugural Global Economic Cooperation Summit in Mumbai on February 17. Spanning until February 19, this high-profile conclave brings together delegates from across the globe to navigate trade, investment, and geo-economic shifts.
A joint effort by the Future Economic Cooperation Council (FECC), India’s foreign ministry, and the Maharashtra government, the summit amplifies India’s voice on the world stage. Jaishankar, capturing the launch event with Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis on social media, stressed India’s determination to build strength amid challenges.
‘Rapid, realistic, and citizen-focused governance makes India a trusted partner internationally,’ he stated. This approach fuels economic prowess and solidifies strategic alliances, reflected in newly inked trade deals.
Addressing the audience, Jaishankar dissected global transitions: ‘The prevailing international framework is undergoing evident transformation. Substitution proves challenging, evoking a sense of encroaching obscurity—hazardous, unforeseeable, and perilously so, as events in disparate regions attest.’
He foresaw a hybrid era where legacy structures mingle with nascent ones. Electoral dynamics will prioritize politics and security over economics, with AI catalyzing profound changes.
India’s playbook involves enhancing domestic strengths, mastering growth imperatives, and harmonizing urgent fixes with visionary goals. ‘Our reform momentum persists, influencing both supply and demand ecosystems,’ Jaishankar declared. Empowered thus, India forges intimate bonds with global counterparts, gaining prominence in manufacturing hubs, service sectors, technological frontiers, skill development, and talent ecosystems.
The summit’s focus on economic diplomacy underscores India’s ascent as a pivotal player in reshaping global paradigms.
