Police in Thane are investigating the death of a 23-year-old woman who allegedly committed suicide while on a video call with her boyfriend on August 28 in the Titwala area. The boyfriend has been detained for questioning. The victim met her boyfriend on Instagram. The woman’s family stated that the boyfriend had defrauded several other girls in a similar manner. The police reported that the accused had obtained the woman’s jewelry under false pretenses. He then threatened her with the release of her private videos when she requested the jewelry’s return. Unable to bear the harassment, the woman took her own life. The woman was cremated without an autopsy, and no FIR has been filed. In a separate matter, Delhi Police arrested a woman, Afsana, from Kalandra colony, Bhalswa dairy and recovered 300 grams of heroin. Following Afsana’s arrest, Delhi Police arrested two suppliers, identified as Narender and Jyoti aka Manshi, and recovered 712 grams of heroin from them. A total of 1,012 grams of heroin was recovered during this anti-narcotics operation, with charges filed under the NDPS Act.
