In a significant counter-insurgency operation, security forces have successfully arrested Motilal Kisku, a long-absconding CPI Maoist leader, in Giridih. Kisku, wanted for his involvement in the Giridih prisoner van incident and carrying a bounty, was apprehended by the Bihar STF in collaboration with paramilitary forces. The operation culminated in his capture in the Deori police station limits, ending a nearly two-decade-long evasion of justice. Preliminary reports suggest Kisku was apprehended on Thursday night while he was present in his village. The arrest was part of a coordinated effort involving Chakai police and other units. Hailing from Hirni village in Chakai, Jamui, Kisku has been an active operative in the Maoist cadre for the last 20 years. He is linked to the murder of Jivlal Paswan in Chakai and faces numerous charges for Naxalite-related activities in various police stations within Jamui and Giridih. It is understood that Kisku was part of the operational group of the late zonal committee member and Maoist leader Chirag Da, and was known to be armed with an AK-47. His alleged role in the prisoner vehicle attack that occurred 16 years ago in Giridih is also under scrutiny. Intelligence indicates that Kisku possesses critical knowledge about arms and ammunition stashes hidden by Maoists in the border regions of Giridih and Jamui, particularly near Poza Bamoria. A large-scale search operation is currently in progress in the area to uncover further leads.
