A check dam on the Balari River near Pahad Toli village in the Karra block, built two years ago, collapsed on Sunday following two days of intense rainfall. The collapse has caused extensive damage to the farmlands of several farmers in Pahad Toli village, resulting in the complete loss of their crops. The farmers state that the contractor who was in charge of the check dam’s construction did not properly build the guard wall. Consequently, the structure was unable to withstand the forceful water flow. Furthermore, reports indicate that the check dam was constructed at a different site. The farmers of Pahad Toli village are urging the authorities to investigate the irregularities in the check dam’s construction and to offer them suitable compensation for the damage to their crops.
