Jharkhand’s opposition chief, Babulal Marandi, has leveled serious accusations against the state administration, claiming it is concocting new crimes to conceal existing offenses. Marandi asserts that the government and its systems have normalized the practice of creating fabricated crimes to bury the truth. Recent ED investigations into Dhanbad’s extensive coal mafia have brought disturbing facts to light. The most concerning development is the reported order from certain ‘senior police officials,’ allegedly profiting from illegal coal trade, to eliminate their associates being interrogated by the ED. This alleged plot aims to prevent the truth from emerging by targeting individuals providing information. Marandi drew parallels to past incidents where evidence was eliminated through staged encounters, recalling a former DGP allegedly involved in contract killings and widespread corruption, with even ruling party figures levelling charges. He issued a stern warning to the ED to remain highly vigilant, noting that in Jharkhand, suppressing truth is more advantageous than revealing it. He concluded that a nexus between the ruling powers, the administrative apparatus, and criminal syndicates inevitably leads to the subversion of justice.
