Tata Steel Works witnessed a major theft attempt being thwarted by its vigilant security staff, leading to the arrest of four young men. The suspects were caught attempting to steal a considerable quantity of copper cables and were promptly handed over to the police for legal action.
The incident unfolded late Saturday night, around 1 AM, when security personnel on duty spotted the four individuals attempting to transport heavy sacks of copper cables. The recovered haul weighed approximately 690 kilograms and is valued at an estimated INR 1.97 lakh.
The arrested individuals are residents of the Garib Nawaz Colony and Gaush Nagar in Mango, with ages ranging from 24 to 26.
Security officers at the plant explained that their quick action in cordoning off the area led to the apprehension of the suspects as they tried to flee with the stolen cables. The security team successfully secured the copper cable on the spot.
Bistupur police were notified and have taken the four accused into their custody for further legal proceedings. The decisive action by the Tata Steel security department has prevented a significant act of theft.
