Serious irregularities have surfaced at the Jamua Community Health Center in Giridih district, pointing to a breakdown in its operational efficiency and staff management. The center already suffers from a severe shortage of MBBS doctors, with CHOs bearing the brunt of medical responsibilities. The recent disappearance of a lab technician without proper authorization has added to the growing concerns.
On Thursday, December 4th, an audit revealed that only two of the three sanctioned lab technicians were present. Nishant Kumar, the missing technician, failed to provide any advance notice or reason for his absence, as per hospital sources. This raises questions about professional conduct and accountability. Dr. Kuldeep Tirkey, the facility’s medical in-charge, confirmed Kumar’s absence and the lack of any official leave request. The recurrent issues of physician shortages, medicine scarcity, and the alarming trend of essential staff members taking unauthorized leave at the Jamua Community Health Center paint a bleak picture of the public healthcare delivery system, despite the Jharkhand government’s promises of robust health initiatives.
