During a legislative session, the Jharkhand Assembly approved several bills that will bring significant changes to the state. Among these was the Jharkhand State University Bill 2025, which gives the Chief Minister the authority to appoint university officials, including VCs and Pro-VCs. This bill will also allow the state government to oversee the recruitment and promotion processes for teaching and non-teaching staff in universities and colleges. The Jharkhand Professional Educational Institutions (Fee Regulation) Bill 2025 aims to regulate the fees charged by private educational institutions, establishing a regulatory framework and a student grievance mechanism. The Jharkhand Coaching Center (Control and Regulation) Bill 2025 was also approved, leading to the creation of state and district-level regulatory bodies to supervise coaching centers, along with mandatory registration for all stakeholders. This includes the provision of career guidance and psychological counseling services. The Jharkhand Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (Special Exemption) Bill 2025 was passed to provide relief for MSMEs from certain governmental requirements. The Jharkhand Platform-Based Gig Workers (Registration and Welfare) Bill 2025 was passed to establish a regulatory framework for the gig economy in Jharkhand, ensuring fair treatment and social security for gig workers, as well as minimum wages and a registration system.
