RANCHI – Chief Minister Hemant Soren made headlines in the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly on Friday by announcing the formation of an Organ Donation Commission. During his response to the Governor’s address in the budget session, Soren outlined this visionary step to revolutionize healthcare.
Central to his speech was the inspiring tale of infant Alam Jeli Abraham. Brain dead at 10 months due to an unfortunate event, her organs were donated by parents Sarin An John and Anil Abraham. Soren hailed this as exemplary sacrifice, urging widespread adoption.
The commission will drive efforts to promote donations, support families, and facilitate transplants for those with failing organs. ‘This is about giving new life to our people,’ Soren emphasized, tying it to broader life-protection goals.
Soren highlighted a milestone: the Governor’s address went unchallenged by amendments, a Jharkhand first after 25 years. He attributed it to tangible achievements resonating with citizens.
Proudly, he noted neighboring states copying Jharkhand’s successes – a role reversal. Contrasting his stable coalition with faltering ‘double-engine’ models, Soren asserted unerasable progress.
Priorities include social welfare, education, and health. ‘By 2050, Jharkhand leads. We govern from the grassroots – empowered villages build mighty states,’ he proclaimed.
Accusing the opposition of fear-driven silence, Soren forecasted global acclaim for Jharkhand, potentially unsettling critics. Committed to all 3.5 crore citizens, he affirmed transparent central relations. Proceedings halted till Saturday.
