The Jharkhand government faces serious allegations from BJP State President Babulal Marandi, who claims the administration is actively fabricating new crimes to hide its involvement in and protection of illegal activities, especially concerning the state’s coal mafia. Marandi stated that creating new offenses to cover up existing ones has become a modus operandi for the government and its systemic apparatus. Evidence emerging from the ED’s recent actions in Dhanbad’s coal trade points to a disturbing nexus. Marandi highlighted a grave concern: that influential police officers, allegedly profiting from the black market in coal, are reportedly instructing their operatives to permanently silence certain individuals connected to the ongoing ED probe. This alleged move is intended to prevent the revelation of critical truths during interrogations. Marandi reminded observers of past instances in Jharkhand where ‘evidence extermination’ through staged encounters was employed to bury inconvenient facts. He specifically recalled a former DGP against whom allegations of contract killings and unparalleled corruption were made, even by ruling party figures. The opposition leader strongly advised the ED to proceed with utmost vigilance. He concluded by noting that in Jharkhand, the system favors those who conceal the truth, and when political power, state machinery, and criminal enterprises operate in unison, the pursuit of justice is effectively nullified.
