The Palamu district administration, led by Deputy Commissioner Sameera S, has intensified its oversight of educational institutions with a recent inspection of the Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya in Leslieganj. The DC’s comprehensive review on Saturday covered student enrollment, faculty attendance, and the upkeep of hostel and mess facilities. Specific attention was given to ongoing construction, with directives issued for prompt repair of a water tank leak and the installation of mosquito nets. The DC actively participated in the learning environment, questioning students on their academic progress. Examinations of the school’s laboratory, computer lab, kitchen, and store were also conducted. This inspection was a follow-up to an earlier directive for officials to assess various schools. A meeting with the school’s staff followed, during which the DC inquired about PTM schedules and stressed the importance of maintaining updated student records and completing the syllabus on time. A critical outcome of the inspection was the discovery of apparent discrepancies in the stock register, leading to its confiscation for a detailed probe. The DC signaled a firm stance on accountability, stating that a third inspection is scheduled and will be followed by action if issues are not rectified. Ensuring student attendance above 75% was also a key directive. The Deputy Development Commissioner, meanwhile, reviewed expenditure-related bills. A coordinated effort saw other officials inspecting multiple schools across the Nilamber-Pitamberpur area. The collective findings from all inspections were later reviewed by the Deputy Commissioner.
