This cherished tradition began in 1967 under the patronage of the late Gangadhar Samanta, a celebrated mica merchant and philanthropist, and has been observed without interruption since. The puja involved meticulous religious ceremonies and a spiritually uplifting ‘havan’, drawing a large number of participants, including a significant contingent of women.
