A CBI court has sentenced former Jharkhand minister Enos Ekka and his wife, Menon Ekka, to seven years in prison in connection with a 15-year-old land scam. The court found that they had violated the CNT Act and misused the former minister’s position to purchase tribal land using fraudulent means. Along with the prison sentences, Enos Ekka was fined ₹2.10 lakh and Menon Ekka was fined ₹2.60 lakh. The case involved a series of land purchases using fake addresses and the involvement of multiple government officials. Other officials, including Kartik Kumar Prabhat, the then LRDC of Ranchi, were also found guilty and received varying prison sentences. The investigation by the CBI revealed that the former minister had purchased significant amounts of land under his wife’s name.
