The Palamu police are stepping up their efforts to dismantle illegal drug operations, recently destroying a significant amount of opium cultivation and enhancing surveillance capabilities. On Wednesday, December 24, 2025, law enforcement executed coordinated actions across various police station jurisdictions, resulting in the eradication of extensive opium crops and the deployment of advanced monitoring techniques.
A substantial success was achieved in the Manatu police station’s operational zone. Following specific intelligence, police teams raided forest areas near Jhanti village and found approximately 7 acres of land being used for opium cultivation. The young opium plants were systematically destroyed using tractors, effectively neutralizing the illegal crop and disrupting drug supply chains. This decisive action has sent ripples of concern through the network of illegal drug dealers.
In the Pipratand police station vicinity, authorities employed modern technology, utilizing drone cameras for comprehensive aerial reconnaissance and verification. This advanced monitoring confirmed the absence of any opium cultivation in the surveyed areas. Police officials noted a positive development: farmers in areas historically associated with illicit opium production are now reportedly cultivating crops such as pulses and oilseeds, representing a shift towards legitimate agriculture. To safeguard against the re-emergence of illegal farming, the police plan to maintain consistent patrols and surveillance in the region.
Palamu Police has publicly declared its commitment to continuing this drive against drug production and trafficking until complete eradication is achieved. They are actively seeking community support and encourage citizens to report any suspicious activities related to illegal cultivation or smuggling, assuring complete anonymity for all informants.
