Ranchi Police Solve 60 Lakh Jewelry Theft Case, 4 Arrested

The Ranchi police department has announced the successful resolution of a major theft case involving the recovery of ornaments valued at 60 lakh rupees. Four people, including the mastermind and a jeweler, have been taken into custody. The case began when a resident of the Lalpur police station area reported a massive burglary at her flat. The investigation centered on Harsh Kumar Singh, the victim’s cousin-in-law, who had been given the house keys for safekeeping during her absence.

City DSP K.V. Raman briefed the media, stating that the accused had planned the robbery with meticulous detail. They attempted to manipulate the CCTV digital video recorder to avoid detection. However, meticulous forensic work and interrogation led the police to the truth. Harsh confessed that the lure of quick money prompted him to betray his relative’s trust. He and his friends, Siddhant Suman and Laiba Yasmin, used the proceeds from the stolen jewelry to enjoy a life of luxury, even purchasing a vehicle to celebrate their ‘success.’

The police team conducted raids across several locations based on the lead provided by the prime suspect. These raids resulted in the recovery of 5.40 lakh rupees in cash, several platinum and diamond ornaments, and the XUV car used by the gang. The jeweler who purchased the stolen goods, Dhananjay Kumar Verma, was also apprehended for his role in the crime. This crackdown serves as a strong warning against those involved in the trade of stolen property.
