The Sahibganj district administration has rolled out its comprehensive paddy procurement plan for the 2025-26 marketing year, ensuring over 25 centers are ready to purchase crops from farmers. Starting December 15, 2025, farmers will receive ₹2450 per quintal for their paddy, a rate that combines the Minimum Support Price (MSP) with an attractive state bonus. This initiative is specifically designed to benefit farmers across the district, including those in distant villages, by providing direct government purchasing channels and eliminating the need for middlemen. Financial transactions are streamlined, with payments guaranteed to reach farmers’ bank accounts within 48 hours. A substantial budget of ₹8.60 crore has been approved to support this operation. Enhancements in technology, such as the e-procurement portal and the use of 4G POS devices, are being implemented to improve the purchasing experience. The portal allows for pre-registration and slot booking, reducing congestion at procurement centers, while the upgraded POS systems promise more stable connectivity and quicker processing. This strategic approach to procurement is poised to significantly increase farmer incomes and foster economic development within Sahibganj’s rural communities, underpinned by transparency and efficient digital management.
