A school bus carrying students from Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya on an educational excursion met with a serious accident in the Koderma Valley today, resulting in injuries to over a dozen students. The bus, with 75 eleventh-grade students bound for Rajgir, was navigating the Koderma Valley near the ‘Nauwan Mile’ area when it reportedly collided with a truck while trying to overtake it. The impact caused the bus to go off the road and fall into a roadside ravine. The bus driver also sustained injuries. Prompt action was taken by local residents who alerted the police, leading to a swift response from emergency services. Ambulances were dispatched to the scene, and the injured students were rushed to Koderma Sadar Hospital for medical treatment. The school principal explained that these educational tours are a yearly initiative to enhance students’ knowledge of historical landmarks. Following the accident, the trip has been canceled, and all students have been safely returned to the school. A student recounted the frightening moments of the crash and the immediate aftermath. Assistance was provided by students and staff from another school bus traveling in the convoy. District officials, including Deputy Commissioner Ritu Raj, visited the Koderma Sadar Hospital to check on the injured students. The Deputy Commissioner expressed deep regret about the incident and mentioned that most students suffered minor injuries, though some require more significant medical attention.
