An anti-Naxal operation in Jharkhand’s Palamu district resulted in the deaths of two police officers. Acting on specific intelligence, the police targeted Shashikant Ganjhu, a TSPC commander with a 10 lakh rupee bounty. The police located Ganjhu’s residence in Kadel village and initiated an operation. A gun battle ensued, leading to the deaths of constables Sunil Ram and Santan Mehta. A third officer, Rohit Kumar, was injured and is receiving medical attention. All three officers are from Palamu district. In the aftermath of the encounter, authorities have intensified search operations in the area. This incident is part of the ongoing efforts to combat Naxalism in Jharkhand, building on previous successes, such as the April 2025 operation in Bokaro district that saw the elimination of eight Naxals, including a high-ranking commander.
